Hello everyone, how are you all. I was reading an article on super foods today. How many of us incorporate those in our daily diet routine??? How many of us are really aware of the wide variety of super foods available around all the time. But first lets talk about what is a superfood??? Simply saying these are foods which are beneficial for health and well being. From cancer prevention and brain health to beautiful skin and weight management, adding these foods to our daily diet makes a huge difference.

A HEALTHY BOWL OF OATS

A go to breakfast for the busy mornings, high in fiber and a very good option for those of you who want to lose those extra inches (i will include the nutritional information of this recipe in the end).

This recipe uses two beautiful superfoods, oats and walnuts.

Oatmeal - superfood for heart
is high in soluble fibre, absorbs bad cholesterol, lowers high blood pressure,provides anti-oxidants, reduces chances of breast cancer and lowers high blood sugar.

Walnuts - superfood for cancer prevention
high in omega 3 fatty acids, cancer prevention through anti-oxidants, lower blood pressure, skin and membrane protection and  5 to 6 nuts a day free the body of free radicals.

So here goes the recipe...

OATMEAL

INGREDIENTS

Plain white oats 3 tbsp
Skimmed milk 250 ml
Kernels of 2 walnuts
Ripe dates 2
Raisins 5 to 6
Flax seed powder 2tsp

METHOD

Finely chop the walnuts, dates and raisins and keep aside. Heat milk in a pan and add the oats. Cook on medium flame till oats start thickening. Cook till desired consistency is achieved. Remove from heat, add walnuts, raisins, dates and flax seed powder and mix well. Serve in a bowl garnished with nuts and strawberries.
