CHILLI CUMIN CABBAGE STIR FRY |
Cabbage...not a favourite with many...it is not the sexiest vegetable out there but it can be one of the most versatile veggies of your kitchen. It is used in slaws, salads, curries, fermented foods etc. It is packed with nutrients and fiber. Its health benefits are many such as treatment of constipation, stomach ulcers, jaundice, scurvy, skin disorders, head aches and obesity.
I invented a simple stir fry cabbage recipe sometime back. Stir frying is a healthy, easy and quick method to prepare a dish. Talking about this recipe, it has a delectable aroma from cumin and heat from green and red chillies. I enjoyed it a lot with steamed white rice. Hope you all like it too.
Here goes the recipe.
CHILLI CUMIN CABBAGE STIR FRY
Serves 6 to 7
Prep time 15 mins
Cooking time 15 mins
INGREDIENTS
Cabbage 1/2 kg
Green chilies 4
Red chillies 2
Black Cumin whole 1 tsp
Ginger chopped 1tsp
Ginger garlic paste 3/4 tsp
Red chilli powder 1/2 to 1 tsp
Coriander powder 1/2 to 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil 2 tbsp
METHOD
Slice cabbage and chillies. Heat oil in a wok. Put chillies, cumin and ginger and saute for a minute. Now add cabbage, ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder, coriander powder and salt. Mix well and fry on high heat till cabbage turns almost tender. I prefer leaving cabbage a bit crunchy. Remove from heat, garnish with coriander and your veggie is ready to eat.
