One pot chicken gravy

Hello all! Today's recipe is my most
favorite because it is from my mom's kitchen. Indian one pot chicken gravy
packed with flavorful Asian spices and onions tomatoes and curd blended
together to make a beautiful and creamy gravy. You will love to have it for
dinner along with steamed white rice. It is delicious, succulent and aromatic
and trust me you would want to have it again and again.

HOME STYLE CHICKEN GRAVY
Serves 4 to 5
Prep time 20 mins
Cooking time 25 to 30 mins or till
chicken is perfectly cooked
INGREDIENTS
Chicken with bone cut into medium
sized pieces 1 kg
Onions finely chopped and fried
(crisp and brown in colour) 2 medium
Tomatoes finely chopped 2 medium
Full cream curd 3 tbsp
Cream 2 tbsp (optional)
Crushed garlic 2 tsp
Ginger paste 1 tsp
Red chilli powder 1 and a half tsp
Turmeric powder 1 tsp
Cumin powder 1 tsp
Coriander powder 1 and a half tsp
Aniseed powder 1 tsp
Ginger powder 1 tsp
Cloves 4
Whole dried red chilli 1
Chicken masala 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Dried crushed fenugreek leaves 1 tsp
Chopped coriander 2 tbsp
Oil for cooking 2 to 3 tbsp
Oil for frying chicken
METHOD
Rub little salt, red chilli powder and turmeric powder on the chicken pieces and keep aside. Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the chicken pieces till they turn light golden brown in colour. Next blend together fried onions, tomatoes and curd in a blender.
Now take a deep pan and heat 2 to 3
tbsp oil in it. Put ginger paste and crushed garlic and saute for half a
minute. Now put cloves and whole dried red chilli and saute for half a minute.
Next put the blended puree in it and saute for 2 minutes. Now put cumin powder,
red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, aniseed powder and ginger
powder. Stir and cook the puree on medium flame for 5 mins. Now put the fried
chicken, chicken masala and salt in it and cook on medium flame, stirring
occasionally till oil gathers on the walls of the pan. This should take about 6
to 8 mins. Now put 1 cup water, simmer, cover with a lid and cook till chicken
becomes tender and gravy thickens (around 10 mins). Now put fenugreek, cream
and half of the chopped coriander, mix and cook for another 2 mins. Remove from
heat now, garnish with coriander and serve hot.
